Julia Pena

A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the Ballard Chapel for Julia Mendoza Pena, 89, of Roswell, who passed away November 29, 2007 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Ballard Chapel. Pastor Medrano of Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Julia was born on June 19, 1918 in Artesia, New Mexico to Julio and Manuela Lujan Mendoza. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as five brothers and two sisters, her husband Carlos Lopez Pena and one son Israel Mendoza Pena.

Julia is survived by one son, Adalberto Mendoza Pena and wife Judy of Dolores Colorado. Also three daughters, Rose Pena Lopez and husband Manuel Lopez, Gloria Pena Robles and husband Tony C. Robles and Nellie Ruiz and husband Eladio Ruiz, also her 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren.

Julia and her husband established La Tapatia Bakery in 1963 until retirement. They also were among the first members of the Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Pallbearers will be Mike Pena, Lalito Ruiz, David Lopez, Kiska Briana Miller, Danny Lopez, and Valente Ruiz.
