A rosary is scheduled for 7: 00 p.m. March 12, 2007 at Ballard Funeral Chapel for Josephina C. Chavez , 84, of Dexter, who passed away March 11, 2007 in Artesia N.M. A graveside service at South Park Cemetery is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at, 10:00 a.m. Father Richard of Artesia will officiate. Interment will follow immediately.

Josephina was born on February 28, 1923 in Mexico to Isidoro Chavez and Dora Valles, both her parents have preceded her in death as well as her husband Cruz P. Chavez and a son who passed away in 1943, two sisters and two brothers.

Josephina was a resident of Dexter N.M. since 1962. She was a member of the Joy Center in Dexter, she lived at Cautiape Ranch with her husband for 32 years, and The Flying H. Ranch for, 12 years. Survivors include her sons Jose Chavez, of Hagerman and Virgilio Chavez of El Paso, her daughters Felica Martinez of El Paso, Barbara Ramirez of Dexter, Artemisa E. Uriquez of El Paso and Arcelia Duarte of Juarez, Mexico. She is Also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 31 great- grandchildren.
