Josefa Soto

On Saturday, December 26, 2020, Josefa (Josie) Soto, loving Mother of seven children, passed away at the age of 84 surrounded by her family.  Josefa was born on November 30, 1936 in Lubbock, TX to Manuel H. and Luisita Olguin

Josefa was a strong, independent woman who was a loyal and fierce supporter of her children and family.  She was an avid reader and loved her daily walks.  Her faith in God was her center and that faith was passed onto her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was an active member of St. Johns parish where she was a member of both the Guadalupanas and was a Crusista.

Upon retirement she became a member of the Senior Circle where she participated in exercise, line dancing and enjoyed trips to the various casinos. She was a member of the Joy Center where she enjoyed going for lunch and visiting with her friends.  She was included in the local group the “Silver Girl” where they had many brunch and birthday get togethers.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Daniel Soto, daughters Odelia Soto, Christina Ortiz, three grandchildren, Freddie Len Soto, Claudio Soto, and Christy Soto as well as sisters, Juana Ramirez, Manuela Gaona, Maria R. Garcia, Guadalupe Hernandez, brothers Luis M. and Francisco Olguin and several nieces and nephews.

Josefa is survived by her daughter Patricia Andreas (John), sons, Daniel Soto, Jr. (Amanda), Federico Soto (Laurie), Juan Soto (George), Ray Soto (Brenda).  She is also survived by brothers Antonio and Ruben Olguin; sisters Margaret Olivas, Adelina Figueroa, Irene Betancur, Ramona Olguin including Dominga Olguin whom she had a special bond.  She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.

Her family would like to thank her granddaughter Melinda Ford and her husband Mark Ford for always taking care of what she needed.  There never was a time, night or day, that they would not answer her call and attend to her.

Pallbearers: Mark Ford, David Soto, Armando Soto, Israel Soto, Carlos Soto and Marcos Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers: Leroy Cardona JR, Daniel Soto III, Brenden Ford and Arthur James (AJ) Soto.
