Johnny Montgomery
Johnny Montgomery of Midway died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the age of 74. Johnny was born to Imogene and Calvin Montgomery in Roswell, NM on October 4, 1947.
Johnny joined the New Mexico National Guard right out of high school and served from 1964 to 1973. He worked numerous jobs including working for the City of Roswell Wastewater Treatment Plant, Water Well Service, Career Truck Driver and Security Work. His favorite job was being a Papa to all his grandchildren after he retired. Johnny enjoyed camping, hunting, RVing, shooting guns, he loved working on cars with his son Wesley. At a young age Johnny had a passion for CB radios that led him to become and Amateur Radio Operator, he belonged to the Pecos Valley Amateur Radio Club which was the last hobby he enjoyed until recently. Johnny was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.
Preceding Johnny in death are his parents Imogene and Calvin Montgomery; three brothers Gordon, Mancel, and Charlie Montgomery; three nieces Sara and Ruby Montgomery and Vanessa Hughes and one nephew Nikkie Montoya.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Sandra Montgomery; son Wesley Montgomery and wife Shelley; daughter Kim Henning and James; nine grandchildren Alyssa, Nicolas, Isabella, James Meghan, Briggette, Daniel, Nathan and Tanisha; seven great grandchildren Nora, Paislea, Merriq, Maveriq, Oliver, Henry and Greyson; three nephews David, Roy and Joshua; two nieces Carrie and Jolene; sister-in-law Sue Butts; guardian Angel Denise (always there to help) and bonus sons David Starritt and Jason Price.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Ballard Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Midway Baptist Church, 134 Yakima Rd with Brother Lawrence Lowery officiating.
