Johnny Brooks

Johnny D. Brooks a WWII Naval Veteran and life member of the VFW, at the age 85 went to be with our Lord on March 11, 2009. Johnny is preceded in death by his mother and father Grace and Jim Brooks, step mother Kate Brooks, two daughters Dyanne and Donna Brooks, one son John Brooks, one son in law Richard Garcia and three sisters, Freddie Burrows, Iva Goggins and Lois Marr. His wife of 63 years Mary B. Brooks survives him at the family home. He is also survived by six daughters Joyce Goddanti of Pecos, N.M., Lois Bender and husband James of Tunnel hill, GA, Grace Garcia of Roswell, NM, Linda Zinn Brooks of Lubbock, TX, Ruth Lott and husband Carl of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Click and husband Mickey of Roswell, NM. Johnnys pride and joy was his grandkids, Joy, John and Cinder Levendoski, Ricky, Denise and Shiela Bender, Donna Phillips Brooks, John Glenn Rodgers, Heather Johnson, Joseph Brooks, Tessa and Carl Lott, Micheala and Micah Click, two step grandchildren, Richard and Veronica Garcia, 30 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren. As well as extended family, Emma Montoya, Sharon and Terry Lambert, Gary Riordan along with numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny is also survived by two brothers Ira Bud Brooks and wife Jean and Huebert H.O Brooks and wife Sarah Ruth all of Roswell, NM.

Funeral services will be held at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:00 am. Services will be performed by Rev. Terry Warner along with special messages from his grandchildren Rev. Tim Phillips of Andrews, TX and Rev John Glenn Rogers of Lewisville, Texas. Directly following funeral services graveside services will be at South Park Cemetery conducted by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Brooks, Timothy Phillips, Anthony Urban, Justin Phillips, Carl Lott II and Micah Click. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Riordan Steve Brooks, Glen Brooks, John Pomeriski, and Lee Lambert.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mr. Brooks name to Vista Care Center, 400 N. Pennsylvania Ave Ste 500, Roswell, NM 88201.
