Johnnie William Day
Military graveside services will be held by the Roswell Veterans Group at 11:00 a.m. Monday November 13, 2006 at South Park Cemetery for Johnnie William Day, 77, who passed away November 9, 2006 at his residence.
Johnnie was born on May 17, 1929 in Alma, New Mexico to Joseph Edward Day and Mary Ann Morgan Day.
Cecil Kimberlin, Vista Care Chaplin will officiate the service.
Johnnie ran a local service station in Roswell. He severed in the United States Army and was in the Korean War.
Johnnie married Alice Pearl Day in July 1950 in Reserve, New Mexico; she survives him at the family home.
Johnnie is also survived by his son Johnny Day, Jr. and his wife Karen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, daughters; Shirley Stidham and husband Greg of Fayette, Missouri, Darcy and Becky Day both of Roswell, New Mexico. He had twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tommy Sam Day, one sister, Margaret Thompson, and one granddaughter, Kimberly Brissey.
Johnnie will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Ballard Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Simons, Jerrod Pinkerton, Johnny Day, Hiram Hudson, Chris Young and Mike Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Pinkerton and David Martinez.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.
