John Lackey

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date for John D Lackey, 87, who passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Roswell, NM. John will be cremated according to his wishes.

John was born May 24, 1928 in Ropesville, Texas to James Franklin Lackey and Mary Hackett who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Jo Lackey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son Rick Lackey and wife Pam of Albuquerque, NM and their children Steven and Jenna Lackey; daughter Dolores Hardt and husband Dwayne of Portales, NM and their daughter Stephanie Madrid and husband Joe of Clovis, NM; great-granddaughter Brettenie Burch; great grandchildren J.J. Madrid and Courtenie Madrid and grandson Jeff Hardt and wife Shannon of Portales, NM.

John had resided in Roswell, NM for twenty years coming from Ruidoso, NM; he was of the Baptist faith. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a gunner. He worked as a skilled carpenter. John was a jack of all trades. He loved dancing at the VFW three nights a week; he also enjoyed playing dominos (Mexican train).
