No services will be held at this time for John Conyers, 92 of Roswell who passed away August 20, 2008 at a local care center. John was cremated according to his wishes and a burial of his ashes will take place at a later date in Evergreen East Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.

John was born on June 22, 1916 to William Alexander Conyers and Elizabeth Harrison Conyers in St. Joe, TX. His parents have preceded him in death as well as three brothers: Howard, James and Harold Conyers; and a sister: Viola Elkins.

John married Irene York in Roswell on December 28, 1990. She survives him at the family home.

John is survived by his sons: John and Ted Conyers both of El Paso, TX, Kenneth and Tom Conyers both of Roswell and Edward Conyers of Joshua, TX, , and; his sisters: Irene Hart of El Paso, TX and Margaret Hehemann of Garland, TX.

John was a veteran of World War II in the United States Navy and he also served in the Marine Corp prior to being in the Navy. John moved to Roswell in 1981 coming from Gallup, NM where he worked for the Kent Nolan Construction Company. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and of First Christian Church.
