John Jack Ashley Blevins II

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Doug Mills for John Jack Ashley Blevins II, 89, who passed Thursday, December 27, 2012.

Jack was born August 5, 1923 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to John Ashley Blevins, Sr. and Marie McKay. His parents preceded him in death. He married Paula Casey on July 29, 1944 in Portales, NM. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Jack is survived by his long time love of his life, Flora Darby, one sister, Barbara Gayne of Marblehead, Massachusetts his son, John Ashley Blevins III of Albuquerque, NM daughter, Judy Martin of Albuquerque, NM daughter, Pam and Pat Flanagan of Maitland, Florida daughter, Lynn Blevins of Roswell seven grandchildren: Jody Bratcher, Michael Bratcher, Tim Quirk, Kelly Tomlinson, Sean Flanagan, Ashley Dennison, and Cindy Sciandra 15 greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandson.

Jack served his country in the 20th Air Force 59th Bomb Wing and completed fifteen bombing missions in the CBI Theater and thirtyfive missions in the South Pacific Theater on Tinian and Iwo Jima. He received four Air Medals, one for Distinguished Flying Cross. Jack was a Senior Olympian and competed all over the United States. He was very involved at the Roswell Adult Center, Joy Center, and with the Senior Circle. He loved to play tennis and pool. He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
