Joel Leyva

A prayer service for Joel Leyva, 18, of Roswell will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m., at Ballard Funeral Home. He will lie in state for visitation Friday, July 25, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church where he was a member. Deacon Luis Romero of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service

Joel was born on November 30, 1989 in Roswell, NM. In 1997 he moved to Guymon, Oklahoma where he lived for five years and returned back to Roswell in 2002. Joel attended SMS, GHS and UHS.

His favorite past times were music from Tupac, and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother; Lucia Leyva and Enrique Berrones of Roswell; his father Leandro Moreno and Leticia Moreno of Odesa, TX; his brothers; Adan, Cesar and Sebastian Leyva; his sister: Briana Moreno and Natalie of Odessa, TX; his girlfriend; Courtney Baca; his grandparents: Manuel and Julieta Leyva of Roswell; Leandro Moreno of Roma, TX; his uncles Lorenzo and Adeliz Prudencio of Roswell, Cruz and Aurellia Garcia of Hereford, TX, Vilma Lewis of Alamogrodo, NM, Erman and Vanessa Rios of Kansas, Manuel Leyva of Oklahoma; Francisco and Elma Almaguer of Odessa, TX; Florentino and Elsa Ramirez of Alice, TX Andres and Elda Delafuente of San Antonio, TX, Elida and Elva Moreno of Odessa Texas; Ricardo, Tomas and Jaime Moreno of Odess, TX. As well as numerous cousins and friends. Joel was preceded in death by his grandmother Fulgencia Moreno.

Pallbearers will be Adan Leyva, Cesar Leyva, Joe Prudencio, Lorenzo A. Prudencio, Jaime Moreno and Ruben Barrientos.

There will be a family and friends gathering immediately following the service at 2109 W. 1st Street, Roswell, NM.
