Joel Fresquez

January 5, 1992 – March 26, 2020

Joel Fresquez, 28, left this world, hand in hand, with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 26, 2020.  Joel was born to Eduardo Martinez and Debbie Fresquez on January 5, 1992 in Roswell. Joel was a quite but very sweet, giving and generous person. He enjoyed his past time in cooking and baking for his family. One of his dreams was to become a Chef to study at Cordon Bleu Culinary Art School. He was also very knowledgeable with technology, always lending a hand with others who were not tech savvy. Joel worked in retail from the age of 14 years old. He enjoyed meeting new people as he was a social butterfly. He enjoyed serving and helping others. Joel enjoyed spending time with his mother, ensuring all her needs were being met in the home. Using his sense of humor, he enjoyed coming out of nowhere to scare her and see the look on her face. He was the light that shined in his mother’s eyes and for all that knew him. He loved his brother, Chris dearly and always enjoyed having their “brotherly talks”. He had a special relationship with his father, Eduardo and had a special name for him, “Viejo”. Joel also had a special place for his grandmother, Eva. He took time to care for her needs, preparing meals for her and ensuring her overall well-being. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his nieces and nephews and had stated one time to his mother, “he did not need to have children as he had all his nieces and nephews to love”. Joel loved all his cousins and had two cousins he held very dear to his heart as well, Leticia Avelar Cruz and Sonya Fresquez.

Those left to cherish his memory are his Father, Eduardo Martinez; and his Mother, Debbie Fresquez; his brother, Christopher Fresquez (Loretta); Grandmother, Eva Fresquez; uncle Rowland Fresquez (Sylvia); aunt Judy Avelar (Manual); uncle Anthony Fresquez of Alamogordo; numerous Aunts and Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding in him death is his great-grandmother Mary Peck; great grandparents, Simon and Casimera Garcia; grandparents, Joe Orlando Fresquez and Irene Fresquez; infant brothers, Jesus Manuel and Jose Orlando Lerma; his uncle, Raymond A. Fresquez; aunts Cindy Ramirez and Tracey Provencio; and cousins, Manuel G. Avelar and Ariella Mia Avelar.

A memorial service to celebrate Joel’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Church On The Move.
