A memorial mass is celebrated at 10:00 a.m.,shy; Monday, January 28, 2007 , at St. Peters Catholic Church for Joe F. Lara, 77, of Roswell who passed away January 24, 2008 at his home. Father Paul Juniet O.F.M. of St. Peters Catholic Church will officiate. Joe was cremated according to his wishes.

Joe was born on January 23, 1931 in Dexter, NM to Fred F. and Celia S. Salazar Lara. His parents have preceded him in death.

Joe married Ophelia Romo on September 24, 1955 in Roswell, NM. She survives him at the family home.

Joe is survived by his son: Tommy R. Lara and his wife Melinda; his brother: Ben Lara and wife Edna and Danny Lara; his sisters; Bella Garcia, Ester Sanchez and husband Robert, Beatrice Kimberll and husband Gilbert and Helen Sanchez; He is also survived by four grandchildren; Richard Lara, Erin Lara, Leroy Fuentez Jr. and Melanie Fuentez. As well as, four great- grand children; Alexander Lara, Allyson Lara, David Servantez Jr. and Dominic Servantez.

Joe worked and retired from the Highway Department as A Heavy Equipment Operator. He was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Peters Catholic Church.
