Joe G. Gutierrez, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Eastern New Mexico Medical
Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Born in Amarillo, Texas, May 8, 1927, his parents
were Joe G. Gutierrez, Sr. and Victoriana Sanchez Gutierrez of Roswell.
He was a graduate of Roswell High School, a US Army veteran of World War II, and a
plumber by trade. He was a long-time resident of Pinos Altos, NM, with an interest in
mining, and most recently a resident of Mission Arch Nursing Home in Roswell.
He is predeceased by his father in 1962, his mother in 1981, and an infant brother in
1932.
Survivors include three sisters and a brother - Josephine Gutierrez in Lubbock, TX,
Virginia Gutierrez in Santa Fe, NM, Helen Musiak (Thomas A) in Ransom Canyon, TX,
Thomas Gutierrez (Jenna) in Greer, South Carolina, and nieces Susan George (Rick)
in Villa Rica, GA, Diane Pilewski (Jerry) in Bonita, CA, and Cynthia Dannels (David) in
Lexington, SC.
Following a Memorial Mass at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 2808
North Kentucky Street in Roswell on Friday, June 19 at 12:10 pm, he will be inurned in
the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Southeastern NM Veterans
Transportation Organization, 2114 West 2nd Street, Roswell, 88201.
