Joe Castelo

A rosary for Joe Castelo, 80, will be recited at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Ballard Funeral Home and Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, and burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery with Deacon Ernesto Martinez officiating.

Joe was born April 13, 1935 to Librada Castelo in Fort Stockton, TX. He married the love of his life that precedes him in death, Olivia Castellon Castelo. Originally from Odessa, TX, upon moving to Roswell, NM, he managed Woody's Upholstery until his retirement and also worked for Mr. Al Mulliken as maintenance. Joe loved playing cards, dominos and going to dances with the love of his life, he enjoyed the whole family together at the house to celebrate whatever occasion. Joe also had many foster children who he loved and took care of. He loved going to the pool hall and car shows to past time with his friends

Joe's survivors include his children: daughter, Laura and husband Sam Hernandez Jr. of Odessa, TX; son, Jimbo Garcia and wife Nancy Gramse of Roswell, NM; daughter, Tina Medrano of San Antonio, TX; sister, Celia Lujan; sister, Socorro Rivas; sister, Margaret and husband Jessie Ramos all of Odessa, TX. Joe is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Quila Garcia and husband Servando Rodriguez; Breanna Garcia and husband Jesse Contreras; Gem Garcia and husband Zai Barela; Beatrice Mendiola; Priscilla Rodriquez James and husband Brian James; Tony Rodriquez, Lanae Garcia, Justin Garcia, Joann Garza, Paul Garza, Maritza Garza, Benny Medrano, Angelo Medrano; God-son Carlos Franco; God-daughter Cassandra Schulte; also 21 great grandkids: Rick Herrera, Gabriella Herrera, Servando Santiago Rodriguez, Adela Catalina Rodriguez, Jesse Michael Contreras, Oliviayanna Contreras, Angelmiah Contreras, Essance Sosa, Richard Gonzales, Elijah Gonzales, Jaazaniah Gonzales, Nethaniah Gonzales, Gemnmiah Gonzales, Zai Barela Jr., Lili Barela, Izaic Gonzalez, Kassie Rose Gonzalez, Isaiah Ciseneros, Ethan Ciseneros, Jonathan Chacon, Anika Saenz; 1 great grandchild: Liliana Jade Perez and godson Sylvester Torres. Special friends are Mr. Manuel and Mrs. Elia Franco, Mary Mendoza; Iretta and Don; sister-in-laws: Margie Morgan and Helen Rico.

Preceding Joe in death are sons, Jody Castelo, Tony C. Rodriguez, brother, Albert Lujan; sister Louisa Lujan and two great grandsons, Neiahmiah Gonzales and Joseph Anthony Herrera.

Pallbearers are Jimbo Garcia, Rick Herrera, Justin Garcia, Paul Garza, Sylvester Torres and Thomas Mein. Honorary Pallbearers are Gabriella Herrera, Carlos Franco, Benny and Angelo Medrano, Ismael Ruiz, Servando Santiago Rodriguez, Zai Barela, Brian James, Joseph Herrera, Fernando Dillard, Jesse Contreras, Tony Rodriquez and Martin Munoz
