A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Joe A. Britt, 92, of Roswell who passed away October 4, 2009 at Mission Arch Care Center. Rev. Bobby Barnett will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Joe was born on May 20, 1917 in Jackson Gap, Alabama to Chester W. Britt and Margaret Coker Britt. His parents have preceded him in death as well as 3 brothers, 2 sisters and a son in law Marvin.

Joe married Juanita in 1942. His wife has preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughters: Mary J. Martin of Moriarty, NM, Gloria J. Turner of Cisco, TX, Aundria M. Schorn and husband Leo of Alamogordo, NM, and Patsy D. Cates and husband Arlie F. of Roswell, NM; his 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews of which includes Marie Parmley of Killen, TX.

Joe has lived in Roswell for 58 years and worked for the Roswell Daily Record and member of the East Grand Plains Lions Club. He was an avid wood worker and enjoyed fishing. He loved his family dearly and was a man of great strength and compassion.
