Jodie went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2016. Jodie was born in Roswell, NM on January 25, 1954. At an early age, she learned of Jesus and quickly established a relationship with him. From the time of early youth up to her last breath, her faith and love of God never wavered. She attended church throughout her life and taught her children the love and mercy of Christ. She always prayed with her children when they were young and for them as they got older. There is no doubt she is now with her maker with in his loving presence.
Jodie loved all of her family in fair or foul weather and had a special gift, being able to give and receive forgiveness with grace. Though having a turbulent childhood Jodie was able to overcome her past by leaps and bounds, providing a good life for her two children. Her children were the apple of Jodie's eye and of whom she regarded and always spoke highly. And concerning her friends, of which she had many, she loved dearly. If Jodie was your friend she showed it with action, not just meer words. Jodie had many talents and interests including: oil painting, a green thumb (she enjoyed various plants and flowers). Jodie loved to cook for people and would have family and friends at her home for barbeques or her specialty, preparing down home country meals. Jodie also loved to go camping and fishing, taking her kids to theme parks and museums, spending time out with her girlfriends sharing in their lives. Jodie was very sensitive to others needs and preferred to give more than receive. However, she excepted help and support gracefully when she needed it. She was the consummate social person in the sense of being one's self (down to earth) and enjoying the moment with whomever, family, friend or the clerk at the grocery store.
Jodie graduated in 1982 with an Associates in Applied Science degree from ENMU-R. After graduating she worked as a field technician for one of the leading oilfield companies that provided services that included well cementing stimulation, directional drilling, obtaining geological core samples etc., while maintaining a home for her children. In 1987 she received her Diploma in Cosmetology, shortly after she owned and operated a beauty parlor of which she enjoyed.
Jodie is survived by her two children, Maury Mootz who lives in Bakersfield CA., and her son Bryan Cody Determan of Roswell. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Tawny Smith (Determan), Truth Wolf and Jacob Deason- Determan (TANK). Special thanks go out to family and friends that increased her quality of life, especially in her last years while battling her illness.
A graveside service for Jodie will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 25, 2016 at South Park Cemetery with Pastor Tim Arlet officiating.
