Jobie Albert McPherson, age 88, of Roswell, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Casa Maria Health Care Center.
He was born in Lincoln, NM on August 11, 1919, the son of the late Richard and Mary Rhode McPherson.
Jobie completed elementary school in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School, Class of 38. He served in the United States Navy, during World War II, and was stationed at US Naval Ammunition and Net Depot, Seal Beach, CA. Upon discharge he returned to Roswell and worked as an electronics technician for Ginsberg Music Company. While employed with Ginsbergs, he transferred to Artesia for several years but returned to Roswell in the early fifties and pursued his calling as a carpenter. A. Master CarpenterCabinet Builder, Jobie moved with his family throughout the state including Alamogordo, Las Cruces and Farmington where he remained until his return to Roswell this past June. He loved to ride horses, call square dances, dance, hunt, fish, greetusher at church and help at the Senior Citizen Facility. He was always willing to go the extra mile to make someone smile or help someone in need.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard; mother Mary; wife Frances OMeara; son Douglas; grandson Jessie; brother Charles; and sisters Sarah Smith; Oney Dow; Virginia Burton and Judith Allen.
He is survived by his sons James and wife Madeline of Groton, CT; Paul of Seattle, WA; Patrick of Seattle, WA; and Charles of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, December 6, 2007. Jobie will be laid to rest along side his sister Oney at South Park Cemetery. Jobie will be dearly missed by family and friends. May his soul rest in peace and eternal light shine upon him.
