Jimmy Dale Serna Sr.

Jimmy Dale Serna Sr. 67, a beloved member of the Roswell community, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at his home. Jimmy will be leaving behind a legacy filled with kindness and a booming voice that resonates with all who knew him. Born on May 3, 1957, Jimmy grew up on a small farm on Urton Road in Roswell, NM with his beloved grandparents, Joe and Susie Robinson, brother Mike Serna and sister Vickie Betancur. He attended Goddard High School where he met his beloved wife June of 48 years.

Jimmy will always be remembered for his compassionate heart and his unmistakable presence. His love for tattoos and unwavering support for The Pittsburgh Steelers were just a few aspects of his vibrant personality that endeared him to so many. Whether he was sharing stories with friends or cheering on his favorite team, Jimmy's spirit lit up every room he entered.

Jimmy is preceded in death by father, Severo Serna; Brother, Louie Serna; Grandfather, Joe Robinson; Grandmother, Susie Robinson; Uncle, Ben Sanchez; Aunt, Angie Robinson and niece, Valarie Betancur. Family was paramount to Jimmy, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, June Serna of Roswell, NM.; Son, Jimmy Serna (Amber Bailey) of Roswell, NM.; Daughter, Yvonne and husband Marcos Romero of Roswell, NM.; Grandchildren, Adam Romero, Joseph Romero, Christopher Romero, Vanessa Serna, Brock Serna and Capri Serna; Mother, Isabel Passmore of Roswell, NM.; Brothers, Karl (Angie) Haeny of Tyler, TX. and Mike Serna (Esther Linares) of Roswell, NM.; Sisters, Vickie (Jerry) Betancur of Roswell, NM., Tracy (Ron) Gokey of Tyler, TX., Rachel (Rick) Peralta of Roswell, NM., Josie Serna of Roswell, NM., Maxine (Toby) Martinez of Roswell, NM., Joann Serna of Roswell, NM., and Angela Serna of Roswell, NM, who will forever hold him in their hearts. Though he may no longer be physically present, the memories shared with Jimmy will continue to bring comfort and solace during this difficult time.

 Every year Jimmy would take trips to Ruidoso, NM with his wife and kids. Jimmy spent his life spreading warmth and joy to those around him. Jimmy loved spending time with all his grandkids, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play as well as the UFC fights. He loved his family deeply.

 A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10:00 am at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Roswell, NM where he will be buried alongside of his grandparents. The service will be a testament to the impact Jimmy had on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 In the wake of Jimmy Dale Serna Sr.'s passing, the community mourns the loss of a truly remarkable individual whose kindness and spirit touched the lives of many. May his memory live on through the stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
