Jim Godfrey, "The Shipper from the Shopper" passed away on June 26, 2019 at his home. He was born March 28, 1937, at St. Mary's Hospital in Roswell to William Walter and Esther McCloud Godfrey. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1955. Jim owned, and operated Godfrey's Cameras and Electronics founded in 1974, and The Shopper founded in 1989. He married his wife, Brenda, on October 5, 1985. Jim was a life member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #969 in Roswell. He is survived by daughters Jamie Houck and her husband Rodney, Jodie Garcia, Abby Hess and her husband Blaine, Jerie Schwab and her husband Mike, his grandchildren Taylor Goldston, Manuel, Gabriel and Ezekiel Garcia, Camille, Larry and Gavin Hess, Haylee, Caden and Naomee Schwab, and his beloved dog, Wally. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Frances, a brother William Jr., and his wife. He was a hard worker, always willing to help anyone. We will always remember him for his ability to fix anything, his inventive nature, his addiction to gadgets, and his unique way with words. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 1, at South Park Cemetery at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Roswell Humane Society, 703 E. McGaffey or The Assurance Home, 1000 E. 18th Street in Roswell.
