Jerald JW Wayne Weldon
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Jerald JW Wayne Weldon, 70 of Roswell who passed away November 29, 2009 at his home. Randy Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
JW was born on August 8, 1939 to Henry Weldon and Dolores Ward Weldon in Meridian, Mississippi and was raised by his aunt Jewell and Tuck Brown and Aunt Willeen and Eugene Brown of Collinsville, Mississippi. His parents have preceded him in death as well as his aunts Willeen Brown and Christine Burt; his uncles: Eugene Brown and Tuck Brown; his grandson: Sgt. Christopher Sanders; his father in law: Austin McClain; his brother in law: Dwayne McClain; and his mother in law: Marie McClain.
JW married Shirley Ann McClain on December 20, 1983 in Roswell. His wife survives him at the family home.
JW is also survived by his sons: Pat Weldon and his girlfriend Debbie Townsend of Seven Points, TX, Greg Barber and his wife Denise of Many, LA, Kelly Sanders and his wife Marie of Roswell, Michael Sanders and his wife Cindy of Grand Prairie, TX; his daughters: Stephanie Matthews of Mabank, TX and Marte Reavis and her husband Chad of Witchita Falls, TX; his grandpa: Barney Weldon; his grandchildren: Christopher and Dara Sanders, Beth and Larry Akin, Michael T. Sanders, Patrick Wayne Weldon and Lacey, Jared M. Sanders, Azzie Matthews, Gaston Matthews, Brooke Koiner, Joshua Koiner, Braden Reavis and Addyson Reavis; his great grandchildren: Christopher Alecsandar Sanders, Jacquelyn Marie Sanders, Kayden Baily Weldon, Heavenlee Ellen Weldon, and Caylee Deanne Weldon.
JW was a loving husband to his wife Shirley and brought her many years of love and care. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and was loved by many. He loved to play golf and to fish. He also enjoyed playing pool and won a lot of money doing so. He was a member of the Eagles. He found his newest hobby in his retirement was to Karaoke and enjoyed performing at the Eagles.
JW worked 50 years in the Bakery business; including production manager for Smith Bakery and Harden Bakery of Meridian, Mississippi, Holsum Bakery of Athens, GA and Holsum and Rainbow of Roswell. He was vice president and operator for Farm Fresh Bakery of Lawton, Ok and was a bakery consultant for Cambell Taggart in retirement.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Wayne Weldon, Pat Weldon, Kelly Sanders, Michael Scott Sanders, Chad Reavis and Michael T. Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie McClain, Jeff McClain, Rod Rodriguez, Larry Akin, and dogs, Pancho, Miagi, Brandy and Rocky.
