James William Seely (Will)
James William Seely (Will) age 45 was born on September 10, 1974 in Roswell and passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 in Roswell. He was born to Jimmy Seely and Shelly Melton Seely his mother preceded him in death, also preceding him in death are his grandparents Billy Bob and Florine Melton and Jim and Ada Mae Seely.
Will started elementary school in Corona, NM where he spent much of his younger life on the ranch. He graduated from Goddard High School in 1993, then joined the military in 1996. Will served tours in Bosnia, South Korea and at Ft. Hood, TX as a Military Police where served very proudly. After serving our country he went to work as a Police Officer in Dexter, NM from 2001 to 2005, he then joined the Chaves County Sherriff Department in 2005 and retiring in 2019.
Will was very dedicated to all his family and friends who he loved dearly. He loved to hunt, fish, the Green Bay packers and his “dad” jokes.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters Kailee and Addison Seely; their mother Bambi Nalley and Reagan Herring and mother Alison Herring; father James Seely; brothers Joe Seely and wife Jennifer, Jake Seely and wife Lacey and Newman Seely. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Shawn Klein, Billy Melton, Sam Seely, Matt Seely, Travis Wilson, and Baldo Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.
The family is requesting that contributions be in honor of Will to the Southeast New Mexico Down Syndrome Foundation, 308 N. Richardson Ave, Roswell, NM 8820, www.dsfsenm.org/donate or American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202, www.donations.diabetes.org.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. Due to the COVID-19 visitation is limited capacity and mandatory face mask is required. Funeral services be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 24, 2020 at Midway Family Church with Pastor Danny Sons officiating. Burial will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Ft. Bliss, TX.
