James Marsh

January 20, 1918 — November 19, 2015

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for James Ervin Marsh, 97, who passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Roswell, NM. Pastor Jim Suttle of Calvary Chapel will officiate with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Ervin was born January 20, 1918 in Roswell, NM to Freeman Marsh and Connie Bell Kerr who preceded him death. He married Virginia Hamlett February 6, 1942 who also preceded him in death. Ervin was also preceded in death by his brothers Dan W. Marsh and Robert A. Marsh.

Those left to cherish his memory are his niece who he often referred to as his adopted daughter Katie Rose of Washington; sisters Jean Marsh Caraway of North Carolina and Mary Virginia Marsh Reed and husband Bob of New Mexico; sister-in-law Stephanie of North Carolina; and nephews Robert Reed Jr., David Caraway and Marshall Marsh.

Ervin joined the US Army and served during WWII. After discharge he returned to Roswell and spent over forty-nine years in the banking business working for 1st National, United New Mexico, Norwest and Wells Fargo retiring as Senior Vice President. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church and also served on the City Council from 1960 to 1964. Ervin was a member of Roswell Kiwanas Club for thirty years and treasure of First United Methodist Church for twenty-five years.
