No services are planned for James Lynch, 88, who passed away August 21, 2009. Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladi Lynch, a daughter, Amy Jo English and husband, Bobby, of Roswell NM, Andrew Lynch and wife Bonnie, of Milford MI, and Stephen Lynch and wife Heidi, of Albuquerque NM. He had 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Jim retired from the Detroit Fire Dept as Battalion Chief after 35 years and retired to Roswell in 1980. Prior to entering the fire department, he served in the Army Air Corp and eventually became a pilot and flew KC-97 and C-47 dropping troops. Jim served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. After D-Day, Jim extracted prisoners of war from Auschwitz Prison Camp. He completed 325 missions and only crashed 2 planes.
