James Matthew Jones
James Matthew Jones, 52, slipped into heaven June 4, 2021. He was born 6 March 1969 at Ellsworth AFB, Meade Co., South Dakota. James was the youngest child of Emmett Robert (Bob) Jones and Phyllis Jean Crawford Jones.
James and his family moved to Roswell, NM in 1974 where James and his brother attended Roswell Public Schools. He graduated from Goddard High School in 1987 where he was actively involved in basketball and FFA.
James was a graduate of New Mexico State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Extension Education in 1991 and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics in May of 1993. He went on to obtain his professional designation of Accredited Rural Appraiser from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 2001 and Real Property Review Appraiser in 2005. Prior to his untimely sickness and death, James was working to obtain his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. He worked as an agricultural real estate appraiser for Farm Credit of New Mexico until he opened his own business in 2001. In his appraisal work, he traveled the Southwest and made many friends.
He married Heather Baldock on September 13, 1997, in Roswell, NM and they had four children.
All his children participated in 4-H and James was an integral part of their development and hands-on learning, especially when it came to their animals. The proudest moments of his life were when his daughters and son won honors with their animals, they trained for 4-H or watching them compete and succeed in their swimming or golf activities.
James was a member of Christ Church where he faithfully and quietly loved and served the body of Christ.
James is survived by his wife, Heather; his children, Tristin, Cavan, Addison and Laurelen, as well as his mother Phyllis Jones.
