James Jim Troy Hanson passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 in Roswell at the age of 56.

Jim was born on June 30, 1955 in Bemidji, Minnesota, the third son of Cal and Elaine Hanson. He spent his childhood hunting and fishing in Bemidji before moving with his family to Roswell. He graduated Valedictorian from Roswell High in 1973 and attended NMSU. He later graduated first in his class from Devry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Arizona. Jim lived in California, Arizona, Colorado and Texas and worked for Intel, Motorola, and Honeywell where he was a pioneer in the development of microchip technology.

Jim married Corinne OBrien in 1996 and started his own home improvement company in Plano, Texas, so that he could be home to help raise his stepdaughter, Laura Clark. He moved back to Roswell in 2010.

Jim loved his dogs, Shiloh who was part wolf and Sadie his Sheltie. He was an extreme athlete who enjoyed everything from motorcycles to body building and four wheelers to scuba diving. While living in Colorado Springs he played shortstop for Woodys at the All World Softball Tournament. Jim was a good dancer who loved music. Some of his happiest times were hunting with his family in New Mexico and their yearly fishing trips to Conchas Lake.

Jim loved his country. He was a natural teacher who was knowledgeable and interested in many things. He was playful man who made people laugh and have a good time.

Jim is survived by his wife Corinne and his stepdaughter Laura Clark of Plano, TX his mother Elaine Hanson brothers Westy Hanson and wife Betty and Ben Hanson and wife Greta all of Roswell nephews Ryan and Travis and niece Bonnie to whom he was always kind and generous. Jim will be deeply missed.

Jim will be remembered at a private family ceremony. Donations may be made online to the American Pain Foundation.
