Jake Otero Sedillo
A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Jake Otero Sedillo, 89 of Roswell who passed away March 29, 2009 at a local care facility. A funeral mass is scheduled for 12:10 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Jake was born on May 5, 1919 to Martin Cordova Sedillo and Porfiria Archibeque Otero in Arabela, NM. His parents have preceded him in death as well as a brother: Andres Sedillo and a sister Dora Daly.
Jake married Ester Archuleta on July 15, 1950 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She survives him at the family home.
Jake is also survived by his sons: Gary Louis Sedillo of Moriarity, NM; his daughters: Betty Jane McDonald of Roswell, NM and Erma Sedillo of Albuquerque, NM; his sisters: Porfiria Mendoza of Roswell, Lola Whitaker, Caroline Clayton of Florida; his grandchildren: Tara Faivre of Las Cruces, NM, Tennyson Jacob Martinez of Daly City, CA, Ty Augustine Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, Shawn Sedillo of Pueblo, CO, Brandon Sedillo of San Antonio, TX, Amy Sedillo of Albuquerque and Nonnah Sedillo of Las Vegas, NM and his great grandchildren: Elyssa Martinez, Aubrey Martinez, Gavin Faivre, Ryan Faivre and Bailey Criswell.
Jake served in World War II in the U.S. Armys 26th Infantry from 1944 to 1946. He joined the reserves afterward and was sent to Korea where he served with the 7th Calvary Infantry from 1950 to 1951. He returned to Roswell and worked as a mill worker and sheep shearer. He retired from J.P. White Industries as a pen foreman after 17 years. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and a former member of the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Tennyson Martinez, Ty Martinez, Brandon Sedillo, Chris Faivre, Jerry Archuleta, and Monroe Sedillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Archuleta, Orlando Sedillo, Wilfredo Sedillo and Danny Mendoza.
