Jack H. Bryan
Jack H. Bryan of Roswell NM passed away on February 15, 2016 in Albuquerque at the age of 89. Jack was born to Edwin Bryan and Johnnie Hughes Bryan, both of whom have preceded him in death, in Center TX on August 17, 1926.
Mr. Bryan resided in Roswell for over fifty years after moving here from Wichita Falls Texas. Jack enlisted into the army during World War II and served his country in the pacific theater. One of his duties during the war was as a paratrooper. This role entailed learning to jump from an aircraft as one of the airborne forces. After the war Mr. Bryan worked for the Dept. of the Interior as a cartographic technician helping to create maps by using analysis of field survey and land management resources.
Jack was a member of the Elks Lodge #969 being initiated on March 28, 1967. He was the Past District Deputy of the Past Grand Exalted Ruler becoming an elected member for life on June 10, 1997; being elected to ER in 1972, Elk of the year in 1974, and finally DDGER in 1984. He served the fraternity for decades as their Lodge Secretary and was truly a brother to this noble lodge.
Jack was a kind and thoughtful soul who loved his family deeply. Surviving him are children Tommy and Svea Bryan of Fort Worth TX and grandchildren Teresa Collins and Tracy Deck, Richard and Debbie Bryan of Tyler TX and grandchildren Harley Bryan & Shawn-Renae, Savanah Foster and Michael, and Jared Bryan and Rachelle, Jackie Breitenbach of Albuquerque NM and grandchildren Robert Breitenbach, Denise Smith and husband Andrew; Great grandchildren are Jack Bryan and Iliana and August and Echo Bryan, Logan, Wyatt, Samantha, and Brendan Collins, Hayley and Hannah Smith.
Preceding him in death was his wife Millie Bryan of sixty-three years. Also preceding him death was his sister Eddie Jo Bryan.
A grave side service will be held at South Park Cemetery on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10am.
