Helen Angela Best
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2008 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, for Helen Angela Best, 86 of Roswell who passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008 at a local care center. Helen was cremated according to her wishes. Robert Holcomb will officiate. There will be a reception following the service at First Baptist Church, 500 N. Pennsylvania.
Helen was born on November 24, 1921 to John S. Krol and Blanch Ukleja Krol in Adams, Massachusetts. Her parents have preceded her in death.
She has joined her life mate, her soul mate, her husband Glenn Best Sr. Helen and Glenn married on December 14, 1944 in McCook, Nebraska. In addition to her husband she is also preceded in death by two sisters one at birth and Stephania Harper; and one brother: Walter John Krol.
Helen is survived by her son: Harry Glenn Best Jr. and wife Linda of Roswell, NM; her daughters: Nancy Ellen Best of Roswell, NM and Shirley Leona Best of Roswell; her sisters: Jessica Dziadul of Vermont and Frances Meadows of Grantsville, MD; as well as a dear friend: Ed Hazzard.
Helen attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School in Massachusetts. While she was growing up she worked in the Cotton Mills. She worked at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft plant for 2 years during World War II in Essex, Maryland and was a 1st class riveter. She was awarded a Certificate of Merit beyond the Call of Duty. In 1956 she then moved to New Mexico from McCook, Nebraska.
Another angel has joined Heavens multitude. She has crossed over the Rainbow Bridges to join and play with her pets that have gone before them. She had a gentle presences about her and loved sunrises, sunset and also the moon and nature in its majesty. Helens Hobbies were her oil painting, sewing, cooking, gardening, as well as reading especially on Military Planes and Submarines. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing harmonica and playing with her dogs- Her last dog was Shawnee, still living and will be 18 years old. She also loved her Saturday morning breakfast outings with Harry and Linda and would say give me the works and dont forget the salsa. We will miss her greatly. Thank you Jesus for taking our Momma into your arms and guiding her into the heavens.
