Harold Clinton Hise
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Ballard Chapel for Harold Clinton Hise, 91, of Roswell who passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at his residence. Cecil Kimberlin the Vista Care Chaplin will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 1:00p.m at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Harold was born on September 4, 1916 in Vernon, Texas to Edward Charles Hise and Zada Kennedy Hise. His parents have preceded him in death.
Harold met his wife Billie at army dance at Kirkland Air Force Base. A few months later he married Billie Kay Speed in Roswell, NM on February 21, 1951. His wife has preceded him in death.
Harold is survived by his sons: David Dean Hise and wife JoAnn of Roswell, NM, Jerry Lee Wilson of Oregon and Lawson Hise and wife Blanca of Albuquerque, NM; his daughter: Lois Fultcher of Texas; a brother: Donald Hise of Albuquerque, NM his nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Harold came to New Mexico with his family when he was only 12 years old. His family homesteaded near the Continental Divide 25 miles north of Cuba, NM. As a young man he traveled to California and lived out there a short time before moving back to be with his family in New Mexico. A short time later while working in Gallup, Harold received his draft notice into the Military.
Harold served in United States army during World War II. He was a prisoner of war for more than three years, held first by Japanese troops in Bilibid Prison in the Philippines, where he was captured, and later forced to go to Japan and serve as a slave laborer in the enemys coal mines. He then returned home in 1945, winner of the Bronze Star for Valor and many other awards. Harold then joined the newly constituted U.S. Air Force in which he rose to the rank of master sergeant before retiring in 1963.
Harold loved football especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was a good father provider and husband. In his retired years he loved to work on his house and work in the lawn and garden.
