A viewing is scheduled on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 with the family in attendance between the hours of 2 and 4 PM and again between 6 and 7 PM for Grace W. Bartlett, age 90 a resident of Roswell for 76 years, who passed away on the morning of July 8, 2010 at Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, CO. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell.
Gracie Mae Willis moved to Roswell with her parents and sisters in 1930. She completed school here where she met her first husband, Marvin H. King. They were married in 1938 and had two sons, Marvin deceased and Billy King, of San Luis, CO. Marvin H. King was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 1941. She raised her two sons with the help of her family and the King family until she married Walter F. Bartlett in 1949. She had three children from her second marriage, Cora Bartlett Ross of Roswell, Howard Bartlett of Fillmore, CA and Loretta Bartlett Bixby of Soldotna, AK. She was widowed for a second time in 1980.
Grace worked in Roswell most of her adult life in private industry and for the U.S. Government. She retired from the Bureau of Land Management after many years of service. After retirement she did volunteer work at the Roswell Medical Center and Child Care in her home for many years. She also provided in home care for the elderly for several years.
Grace leaves behind a great legacy which includes her four living children, fifteen grandchildren and twentythree greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by two of her seven siblings, Irene McDonald of Clovis, NM and Fern Neeley of Abilene, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace will be missed by her family and the many friends she acquired over a lifetime of giving.
