Gloria Robinson

Our mama, 82, met with God on December 21, 2007 surrounded by her family. Gloria G. Robinson was born March 29, 1925 in Oklahoma City to John and Cleo Nottingham. Gloria lived in Oklahoma City and various surrounding areas before moving to New Mexico in 1960 where she made her home.

Gloria was a hardworking woman; from the cotton fields to the factories, she always found a way to take care of us. She was also an outstanding homemaker; Give her a needle and thread and she would keep you warm, a spoon and a pot and she would keep you fed. Mama was a very strong willed woman, which she in-stilled in her children.

Although it was hard to get her away from wrestling on T.V., or to pull her out of a bingo hall, she always had a great sense of humor, and left a lasting impression on anyone she ever met. Strong in her Christian faith, we know our mother now walks with God. We all will miss our beloved mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her son Terry Kirby and wife Sharon, of Roswell five daughters, Barbara Blevins of Oklahoma City, Linda Roberts and her husband Bob, Vickie Dunn, Joann Irish and her husband Jeff, all of Roswell, Twyla Johnson and her husband Troy, of Rapid River, MI, a very special friend Ben Napps, 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Brooks and her parents John and Cleo Nottingham.

A funeral service will be Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Erwin VanEssen of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be all her Grandsons, Roy Summers, Jeff Irish Jr., Terry Kirby Jr. Michael Dunn Jr., John Summers Jr., Joseph Summers, Sean Roberts and Josh Irish.
