Gerard J. Garcia Gato

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Gerard J. Garcia, 51of Roswell who passed away June 14, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A memorial mass is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Bernice Estrada and Renee Analla will recite the Rosary. Fr. Paul Juniet, O.F. M. will recite the memorial mass.

Burial of ashes will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Gerard was born on July 17, 1957 to Rudy J. Garcia and Carmen Jimenez Garcia in Roswell, NM. His parents survive him.

Gerard is also survived by his wife Emily Garcia; his son, Matthew Garcia; his daughters, Marie Garcia and Michelle Garcia; his siblings and spouses; Rudy Garcia and wife Mozella, Christopher Garcia, Bernice Estrada and husband Ernest, Mary and Richard, Lydia Gonzales and husband Richard and Priscilla MacDonald; and his granddaughter, Nayelle Garcia; as well as 18 nieces and nephews.

Gerard was a life long resident of Roswell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on old cars, and playing horse shoes. He was a mechanic and worked in construction. He was a devoted father and son, and he loved spending time with his children. Gerard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Marcus Gonzales, Eugene Analla, Rene Analla, Fabian Analla, Michael Garcia, Daniel Estrada, Andy Garcia and George Morales.
