Gerald Jerry Ray Speaksbrbr Gerald Jerry Ray Speaks was born May 2, 1932 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. The family relocated to California and farmed in Tulare County in the 40s and 50s. Jerry enjoyed motor sports in his late teens participating in drags, jalopy and stock car racing in California and Arizona. But, his car racing careere came to an end when he left to serve in the US Army during the Korean War.br On August 18, 1954 he married Margaret Ann Broyles and they remained devoted to each other until she passed away on September 14, 2001. br Jerry relocated to Roswell in 2002, where he loved sitting on his patio enjoying the fine weather.br Jerry passed away on December 23, 2009, following a long battle with cancer. His wishes were to be cremated. There are no services scheduled at this time, the family will have private services at a later date.br Jerry often said Never do anything to anyone that you expect them to forget and never do anything for anyone that you expect them to remember. But he will be remembered and loved by his daughter, Sharon Ann Woodworth of Roswell, his son, J. Mark Speaks, four grandchildren, a brother, two sisters, and multiple nieces and nephews. br Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.
