Geneva Rose Lewis
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm, Friday, March 23, 2012 for Geneva Rose Lewis who went to be with our Lord Jesus on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Pastor Mike Knowlton of Waymaker Church will be officiating.
Geneva was born to Horace and Annie Martin on June 10, 1929 in Halecenter, Texas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend and American. Geneva wasnt an extravagant lady except when it came to loving people. No one ever left her home hungry she was always ready to share one of her wonderful meals with gracious hospitality. She was proud of her country and knew American Flag Etiquette by heart.
Geneva had three children, Linda her loving daughter, her delight GT, her overachiever, her protector, her joy and Burl, her gentle giant with just enough rebellion to be her fun. Her Children were her life. Not one of the sacrifices and there were many went unnoticed by her children. She was involved in the lives and activities of her children.
She worked for Valley Glass and called her employers Roy Bissey and Paul Freize friends. She also worked for Chaves County Clerks office until her retirement. She taught 4H for many years. Geneva was a member of the PTA and served both locally and on the State level. She was also a member of the local Does organization where she served in many positions and enjoyed great friendships.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband G.T. Lewis her sisters Lucille McGuire and Francis Lockheart her brother Henry Martin and her granddaughter Karen Sue Lewis.
Surviving her are her daughter Linda Sue Thompson and husband Bruce, G.T. Lewis II and wife Martha, Burl Lewis and wife Dawn. Her grandchildren, Bruce Thompson II and wife Melissa, Judy Beckstrom and husband Milo, Chad Thompson and wife Camille, Ryan Lewis and wife Amanda, Konni Lewis, Kimberly Lewis and Burl Lewis and wife Sarah and also nine great grandchildren with one on the way.
Pallbearers will be Benny Lockhart, Chad Thompson, Burl Lewis II, Bruce Thompson, Ryan Lewis and Milo Beckstrom.
