Gelene was called home, peacefully, by her Heavenly Father, on the 2nd of May 2019. Gelene is now dancing in streets of gold with all of those who have been waiting for her.
Gelene was born March 1, 1935 as an only child to Arthur & Jewel Powers, in Crowell, TX. Both of Gelene's parents preceded her in death. Gelene a graduate of Kermit High School, in Kermit Texas found the love of her life and married him, A.D. Rainer, August 1, 1953. She doted on her husband and truly believed that she was there to nurture and care for him and her family. A.D. and Gelene were married a wonderful 57 years, before his passing in 2010. As much as it prided her to be a wife, she gleamed when she became a Momma to her four children. Gelene loved being a mother and delighted in taking care of her family. All of the years of her life hold precious memories, but they also hold growth. She grew up with her children and was still so young by the time she was called Mamaw by her grandchildren.
Each grandchild can attest to Mamaw riding carnival rides, swimming at the beaches, and listening to rock and roll music. She loved to dance, sing, tap her toes, and keep time with all possible body parts. Mamaw loved all children and had such a warm way with them. Gelene was many things to many people. She was a caregiver, nurturer, teacher, friend, soothing voice, confidante, and inspiration. She touched so many in her years of serving the Lord and her family that she will surely be missed. Some of those that will miss her the most is the family she left behind.
Gelene is survived by all four of her children and their spouses: Belinda Butts and husband Scotty, Kay Reed and husband Rob, Michael Rainer and wife Mary, and Pam Henning and husband Chris. Gelene has also left her grandchildren and their families to finish her work on this earth: Brandon Rainer, wife Stacey and great granddaughters, Taylor and Blake; Jessica Dunn, wife Amber and great grandson, Brennen; Carla Davis, husband Nik and great grandsons Jaxen and Zane; Kim Lynn; Brad Rainer, wife Karri, and great grandsons, Skyler, James, and Bentley; Grandson, Kyle Wilson and Granddaughter, Savannah Henning.
There will be a time for visitation and viewing at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell NM on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. The family will then gather in Dublin TX to celebrate her life with those who loved her. Services in Dublin will be at Harrell Funeral Home.
