Frances Evelyn West

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Hagerman Cemetery for Frances Evelyn West, 96 of Hagerman, NM. Frances passed away on June 16, 2008 at a local care center. Rev. Stephen Deutsch of First Presbyterian Church of Dexter will officiate.

Frances was born on September 25, 1911 in Houstonia, MO to Lamis Paul Welborne and Hattie Jane Rothrock. She was raised in Missouri and settled in Hagerman in 1934. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hagerman, and the Eastern Star. She was involved in many organizations and held many offices both local and statewide. Among those were the Worthy Matron of the Hagerman Chapter, and Mother Advisor of Hagerman Rainbow Chapter. She was a graduate of Central Missouri College, and taught music in Hagerman schools, and also taught piano privately for many years. Frances played the organ for First United Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church in Hagerman. She was an avid bridge player and an accomplished seamstress.

Frances is survived by her son, Paul West and his wife Kathy of Nocona, TX: her daughter, Kathleen Andrews of Albuquerque, NM: her grandchildren: Julie MacCluskey and her husband Joel of Denver, CO; Jennifer Nelson and her husband Andy; also of Denver, Colorado; Mike West and his wife Jeni of Jacksonville, FL; James West and his wife Lizzie of College Station, TX; Gary West of Manhattan, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, and her brother; Ramon Welborne, and her sister; Elma Morris.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Frances name to the First United Methodist Church of Hagerman or the First Presbyterian Church of Hagerman.
