Frances Lucille Hopper, aged 91, died peacefully on October 27, 2015, at her home in Roswell, New Mexico, surrounded by her family. Frances, better known as Lucille, was born May 27, 1924, in Franklin, Texas to James Euell Prichard and Frances Elizabeth Bloodworth. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her beloved brothers, Arnold Prichard and Bill Prichard.
Frances graduated from high school in Elida, New Mexico, and went on to become a cosmetologist. She attended beauty school in Roswell, New Mexico, and opened a several shops over her career. After retirement, she did product demonstrations and affectionately became known as "the sample lady". Frances was a member of the West Alameda Church of Christ since 1983, an Eastern Star, and was active in fundraising for organizations such as the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Her most important role, however, was that of wife and mother.
Frances married the love of her life, Jack B. Hopper, on November 19, 1949, in Hobbs, NM. They were married 61 years. Jack preceded her in death in 2010. She is survived by her two daughters, Fran Hopper of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Kathy Parker, of Roswell, New Mexico. She also leaves behind one dear sister-in-law, Bonnie Prichard, numerous cherished nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
Frances loved people and her friends and family were her delight. She was an amazing host and always wanted to make you feel welcome in her home. She was an excellent cook: there was always something good to eat at the Hopper house. She also enjoyed ceramics, beading, and crocheting, and it gave her great joy to share her creations.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her recent illness, including Interim Home Healthcare, Gentiva Hospice, and Comfort Keepers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory. Services to celebrate the life of Frances Hopper will be Monday, November 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
