Evelyn Ohlinger

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Wesley United Methodist in Alamogordo, NM for Evelyn Lorraine Ohlinger, 94, who passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 in Roswell, NM. Evelyn will be cremated according to her wishes and will be laid to rest in Alamogordo, NM.

Evelyn was born November 3, 1921 in Raton, NM to Leo and Blanche Patrick Thomure who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband Dwight Ohlinger.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Gary Dwight Ohlinger of Shelton, WA; daughters Donnine Kay Ballance and husband Ron of Red Oak, TX and Linda Sue Jones and husband Gary of Artesia, NM; grandchildren Neal Ballance and wife Chrissy, Tammy Balance, Kristy Hamilton and husband Jimmy, Cari Jowers and husband Phillip and step-grandson Lawrence Chapman and great grandchildren Abigail and Jackson Jowers, Kolton and Kason Hamilton and McKenzie Ballance. She is also survived by her special friends Bob and Lucy Shoaf and Mike and Kaye Costello.

Evelyn was a housewife and secretary for her husbands business. She was a native New Mexico resident who loved the desert and mountain beauty. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in Alamogordo, was active in PEO and other community activities. Evelyn loved her family and will be remembered for her humor, zest for life and wisdom.

The family would like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice staff and especially caregivers Janeh and Lenya.
