Etta Irene Conyers

Etta Irene Conyers, 77, of Roswell, NM passed peacefully away on December 21, 2008. The graveside funeral services are to be held on February 21, 2009 in Olney, TX.

Irene was born September 16, 1931 in Olney, TX and was the daughter of Felix York and Mildred Shadwick. On December 28, 1990, she married John Conyers in Roswell, NM. They lived at their residence for 27 years. Irene had retired from Sears and Roebuck and had worked 5 years as a gaming cashier with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Roswell, NM. She was on sick leave at time of death.

During her membership of 14 years with the Eagles, she had received Woman of the Year in 1997 and held Madame President for the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3187 Auxiliary in 1998. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Albany, TX.

Survivors include her four children, Tommy Harper of Albany, TX; Gene Harper of Albany, TX; Sharon Kollmansberger of Mexico, MO, and Michael Gomez of Cancun, Mexico. In addition, there are 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Irenes husband passed before they were able to celebrate their 18 wedding anniversary in November of 2008. Her parents, brother James York, and sister Joann Bentley preceded her in death as well.
