Ester A. Sedillo, 88, a lifelong resident of Roswell and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Lovelace Regional Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.
Ester was born July 5, 1927 to Placido Archuleta and Rosavra Maes in Roswell, NM
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake O. Sedillo; her parents, Placido and Rosavra Archuleta; sisters, Viola Sedillo; Nellie Flores, and brothers Ernest Archuleta, Billy Maes, Eskey Archuleta.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Barbara) Sedillo from Moriarity; daughter, Betty McDonald from Roswell; and Erma Sedillo from Albuquerque. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tara (Chris) Faivre from Las Cruces, NM, Tennyson (Ethel) Martinez from San Francisco, CA, Ty (Vanessa) Martinez from Albuquerque, NM; Shawn Sedillo from Pueblo, CO; Brandon Sedillo from San Antonio, TX, Amy Sedillo from Albuquerque and Nonnah Sedillo from Las Vegas, NM. Her great grandchildren Bailey Criswald, Gavin and Ryan Faivre, Elyssa and Aubrey Martinez, Jacob and Zoe Martinez, and Elias and Emily Montoya. She is also survived by her brothers Richard Archuleta and Jerry Archuleta and sister, Flora Garcia. She has numerous nieces and nephews whom she will dearly miss.
Ester was a community volunteer for R.S.V.P., the Senior Circle and the Altar and Rosary Society at Assumption Catholic Church. Her endless volunteer activities earned her an award of recognition by the Chaves County commission.
Besides Ester's love for her family she also loved working in her backyard and most people will remember her by constantly pulling the never ending abundance of weeds.
Rosary will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church with Farther Joe Pacquing of Assumption Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8 to 4 pm at Ballard Funeral Home on Friday, October 30, 3015.
Pallbearers are Brandon Sedillo, Ty Martinez, Tennyson Martinez, Chris Faivre, Brian Casaus, Armando Archuleta, Eddie Cortez and Danny Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Wilfred Sedillo, Richard Archuleta, Jerry Archuleta, Gary Gillaspy and Ray Polanco.
The family would like to thank the Joy Center for all the services they provided throughout the year, and Elisa Montoya, Patricia Chavez and niece, Ronnie Casaus for bringing a smile to Ester's face.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Catholic School which is affiliated with the Assumption Catholic Church, 2700 N. Kentucky, Roswell, NM 88201.
