Emma Baiza, age 75 passed away Friday, May 12, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family and friend.
Born on August 29, 1942 in Roswell, NM to Pedro and Estrellia Vigil. She lived with her companion Bonnie Sanchez. She was a lifelong resident of Roswell, NM and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Emma worked at Long Horn Manufactory for 15 years. She then became a homemaker who loved going hunting when she could, enjoyed going to bingo and playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed attending and watching her grandkids play sports.
Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She is survived by her loving family, daughters Juanita Baiza and husband Rene Portillo and Misty Villa and husband Agustin (Chicali) Leon all of Roswell; grandchildren Veronica Munoz ( Victor) of Odessa, TX, Richard Villa, Crystal Villa, Francisca (Kika) Aragon, Fermin Portillo, Miriam Portillo all of Roswell, Christina Ray (Justin) of Oklahoma, Leah Baiza, Jessica Baiza, Samuel Baiza, Sara Baiza, David Jackson, John Mark Jackson and Hannah Jackson all of Virginia; great grandchildren Richard (Honey) Villa, Rihanna Villa, Victor Munoz, Jaime Munoz, Xavi Valdez, Leonel Munoz, Armando Villa and Isaiah Baiza. She also leaves behind her brothers Edward Vigil (Imelda), Robert (Bobby) Vigil both of Roswell and Felix Vigil of Colorado; sisters Mary Vital (Manuel), Viola Perez and Sarah Perez (Ramon) all of Roswell. And special friends Cecilia (Wera) Marquez, Nancy and Efrain Soto and numerous bingo friends.
Emma is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Fermin Baiza; brother Pete (Jr) Vigil; two sons Ruben Baiza and Richard (Huevo) Baiza and numerous aunts and uncles.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rene Portillo, Fermin Portillo, Richard Villa, Chicali Leon, Edward Vigil, Robert (Bobby) Vigil, Diego Fierro and Victor Munoz. Honorary pallbearers will be Xavi Valdez, Richard (Honey) Villa, Miriam Portillo, Victor Munoz, Jaime Munoz Leonel and Armando Villa.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Ballard Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 18, 2018 at St. John's Catholic Church with Deacon Ernesto Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
