A memorial service for Mary Elaine French, 75, will be held at 11:00 am on December 28 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 505 N. Pennsylvania Ave. A private ceremony will follow for the internment of her ashes in the church's columbarium.
Elaine passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the family home. She was born on December 21, 1941 in Amarillo, TX during a blizzard. She lived in Roswell for most of her life where she raised her two daughters. She worked as a bookkeeper for House of Art Jewelers and was the store manager for the Roswell Art Museum.
Mom's second marriage to her special love Bill French was blessed. They enjoyed art and were members of the Roswell Fine Arts League. They spent many happy hours in their art room working on paintings. Life is better when holding the hand of your best friend.
Honey and Poppa loved time spent with family especially their grandchildren. Their home was the spot for all meetings of the Cousin Club and Honey could often be found playing Nintendo with the kids when they were younger. As they grew older, she encouraged them in their varied pursuits and attended all of their events. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine was proceeded in death by her mother Allene and stepfather Buck Spurrier, and husband Bill French. She is survived by her daughters Delaina Franzoni, Davona Hickey and son-in-law Bob, son Alan French all of Roswell; grandchildren Darin Franzoni and wife Laura of Las Cruces, Alyssa Hopkins and husband Daniel of Lexington, KY, Kara Hickey of Rio Rancho, Breanna Hickey of Roswell and Erica French of Roswell; great-grandchildren Ian and Audrey Hopkins with a new baby coming in May.
Elaine was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family.
