Edward Gene Sidd

Edward Sidd passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the age of 85 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers disease. Edward was born in Boston on March 10, 1924, to Harry and Genevieve Insoft Sidd. He was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and served in the Phillipines during World War II. Following the war with the help of the G.I. Bill he graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in chemistry and went on to get a Masters Degree in food chemistry also from M.I.T. His first job was as a chemist with Manischewitz Company and he subsequently worked for other companies in the New York area as a food technologist.

Edward is survived by Marjorie Ginsberg Sidd, his wife of 61 years. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. James Sidd, of Cambridge, Mass. He has two children, Dr. Richard Sidd and wife Carolyn of Roswell and Patricia Kopperl and husband Hendrik of Bedford, Mass. He also had five adoring grandchildren: Amy Reich husband Joseph, Owen Sidd, Anna Sidd, Celeste Kopperl and William Kopperl

Ed will be remembered for his loving devotion to his wife Marjorie and the joy that he shared with all of his grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge the lifetime friendship of Ephraim and Babs Radner. We deeply appreciate the loving care that Ed received from the staff at the Rose Garden at La Villa as well as from Julie Adams, our dear friend and elder advocate. Special thanks also to Vista Care Hospice Staff as well as Norma Nicasio, his devoted Comfort Keeper.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, 9550 Montgomery NE Suite 209, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
