Edward Joseph Montalvo, 74, of Abilene, TX, passed away at home on January 9, 2018 from a lengthy illness.
Edward was born in Santa Fe, NM on February 1, 1943. Edward married Nancy Vasquez in 1967 in Roswell, NM. They were married for 50 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.
Edward enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in New Mexico, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing bingo. As a young man he enjoyed running and in the Air Force he played fast-pitch softball all over the world.
Edward joined the United States Air Force in 1962 and served for 24 years before retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He then achieved his associate's degree and became a teacher's aide at a head start for several years before retiring.
Edward was preceded in death by his 5 brothers: Paul, David, Richard, Michael and Johnny.
Edward is survived by his wife Nancy; His children: Patty Cardoza, Bernadette Hicks, Donna Daniels and Edward Jr; and grandchildren: Ray Hicks, Mariah Cardoza, Celina Hicks, Selena Cardoza and Evan Cardoza.
Pallbearers will be: Santiago Vasquez, Paul Herrera, Albert Sigala, David Cardoza, Danny Varela and Edward Vasquez. Honorary Pallbearers are: Teddy Hicks and Gary Corpian.
