Edward C. Kruse, Jr. died peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2016 in Roswell, NM. He was born in Ft. Worth, TX to Edward C. Kruse and Augusta Landgraf Druse on June 5, 1927. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:03 am at First Presbyterian Church in Roswell.
Ed graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Industrial Education and he returned there in 1951 to ear his Master's degree. Ed and Virginia Forwood Morrison married in 1950 and had three children. His work as a land man for Mobile Oil took the family to Oklahoma and Nebraska before being transferred to Roswell, NM. In 1957, Ed left Mobile Oil and opened Las Lomas Antiques on West Second in Roswell where he repaired furniture and sold antiques and collectibles until he sold the property in 2012. He derived most enjoyment from his 40 years as an estate auctioneer. In 1992, Ed married Dixie Bernal and the rejoiced in cherished their many years together.
Ed was a 23rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Shrine, the Roswell Rotary Club, a former Board member and longtime supporter of both the Roswell Symphony Orchestra and the Salvation Army. Ed's decades long associations with the First United Methodist Church and more recently with the The First Presbyterian Church were invaluable to him.
Ed was pre-deceased by his parents, by his beloved wife, Virginia in 1987 and his daughter, Caroline 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Bryant of Santa Fe, NM and her children Elizabeth and Greg and their respective families; by his son, Edward Kruse III of Durango, Co and his children Edward IV and Grace; his son-in-law, Frank Frederick of Albuquerque, NM, his wife Patti and his daughter Ginny. He is also survived by numerous cousins as well as sisters-in-law, Virginia Harris of Utah and Elizabeth Sweet of Massachusetts; his good friend Barry Stone as well as longtime friends Wayne Brown and Steve Henderson.
The family thanks the special care given to Ed by the entire staff at Casa Maria Health Care Center, ENMMC as well as the staff at La Villa/Brookside.
