Memorial Services will be held for Earl Wayne Cochran, 81, of Roswell, at 3:30 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Mills of First United Methodist Church Officiating. Earl passed away in his home with his family on Thursday, November 29, 2012.
Earl was born September 21, 1931, to Myrtle Youngs and Earl William Cochran in Grand Island, Nebraska.
He married Margaret Peggy Powers in Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 16, 1952.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Myrtle Youngs Cochran and Earl William Cochran his brother, Ronald Gene Cochran his daughter, Diane Renee Cochran his son, Kevin Michael Cochran and his grandson, Lance David Merric.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Margaret Peggy Cochran his son, Mark Earl Merric and his wife, Zenny Merric, of Brighton, CO his grandchildren, Kathryn LDaun Biggs and her husband, Nick Biggs, of Roswell Kevin Michael Cochran Barrett Adams Aaron Lee Merric Shannon Grace Tan and greatgrand daughter, Rileigh Payton Biggs and extended family Kellie and Rodney Adams.
Earl graduated from Cheyenne High School, got his B.S. from the University of Wyoming, and his MBA from the University of Denver. He served in Korea with the initial Army Audit Agency of Korea. He worked as Treasurer and Vice President of Greely Gas Co. and formed his own accounting firm. He was a CPA for 45 years.
Earl served as Chairman of Board, Treasurer, Finance Chairman, CoChaired the Bereavement Committee, and other committees at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, NM and was president and a member of Community Advisory Committee of Roswell Job Corps. He was President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Endowment Accountant of Roswell Sertoma Club District Governor of Eastern New Mexico West Texas District Sertoma International Director of Greater Rocky Mountain Region Sertoma International Treasurer of Sertoma International and Trustee and International Treasurer of Sertoma International Foundation.
He was also Master Mason of Albert Pike Lodge No.117 A.F. and A.M., 32730 KCCH of Colorado Consistory, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Noble of the Mystic Shrine of El Jebel Temple in Denver, CO, and Roswell Noon Optimist President and Treasurer.
Honorary Pallbearers include Bob Pottle, Dick Goodwin, Jim McDevitt, Lowell Hughes, Johnny Sandoval, Vic Dodson, Alex Pankey, Kevin Roe, Marlin Wells, Tony DArezzo, Royce Herford, and Art Sharp, Jack Kleever, and Dennis Mahaffey.
Family would like to thank Comfort Keepers for their special care, especially Linda Bevers and Paula Wilks. They also would like to thank Vista Care for their special care, especially Diane Kimberlin and Lisa Grant.
