Douglas Frank Lathrop

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church on Wednesday October 22, 2008 for Douglas Frank Lathrop, 73, of Roswell, NM. He passed away on October 18, 2008 at his home. Pastor Rick Hale of Grace Community Church will officiate.

Douglas was born on May 30, 1935 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Mathias Lathrop, and Lillian Uhlig Lathrop. They both preceded him in death.

On April 23, 1955 he married Prestina Flores in Capitan, New Mexico. She survives him at the family home.

Douglas was a member of the University Park Church in Ft. Worth, TX and member of the Masonic Lodge El Texa Grotto in TX. He also served his country in the United States Air Force. He loved his grandkids and spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing and restoring antique furniture and had a strong faith and heart for God. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Other survivors include his sons: Bob Lathrop of N. Richland Hills, TX, and Jim Lathrop and his wife Terri of Aledo, TX; daughters: Mary Ann Byrd and husband Jim of Roswell, and Lillian Nyhoff and her husband Kurt also of Roswell; sisters: Virginia Moore and her husband Charles, Elaine Ross and her husband Bill all of McKeesport, PA; grandchildren: Bryan and Amber Byrd, Ben and Lesley Byrd, Josie Palmer and her husband Don, Lindsay Villegas, Alexy Lathrop, B.L. Douglas Lathrop and his wife Roxanne, Jimmy, Natalie, and Whitney Lathrop, Faith Seilheimer and her husband Ben, and Garett and Joshua Nyhoff; great-grandchildren: Cassidy Byrd, Trinity Villegas, Kaylee, Megan, and Cassidy Lathrop, Saylor Lopez, and Vanek Seilheimer.

In leiu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Douglas F. Lathrop Memorial in care of Grace Community Church.
