A graveside service is scheduled at 1:30 pm, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at South Park Cemetery for Dortha Joyner 88, who passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 in Lubbock, TX. Rev. Stephanie Harmon of First United Methodist Church will officiate.

Dortha was born June 15, 1922 in Bowie, TX to Clarence and Ina Ethel Shockley Smith. Both parents preceded her in death. She married Nathan Junior Joyner, he also preceded her in death as well as her son Jim J. Joyner and grandson John Joyner Jr.

She is survived by her son John Joyner Sr. granddaughter Michele Chavarria great granddaughters Krista Scott and Brittney Webb four greatgreat grandchildren and many more family and friends.

Dortha moved from Roswell in 1966 to Clovis, NM and then onto Lubbock, TX. She worked as a medical supervisor in the Civil Service. Dortha traveled from Bowie, TX to Roswell, NM with her family in a covered wagon.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Dortha to Texas Boys Ranch P.O. Box 5665, Lubbock, TX 79408.
