Dorothy Kaler
A memorial service celebrating the life of Dorothy Kaler, 85, who died Monday, March 11, 2013 at Casa Maria Health Care Center, is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, March 22, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Mills of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Dorothy Stephens Clark was born November 19, 1927 in Marshall, Oklahoma to A.H. Dick Clark and Della Stephens Clark. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Robert V. Fleet whom preceded her in death as well as her son, Stephen Clark Fleet and grandson Robert Clark Fleet.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Kaler of Roswell son, David Kaler of Roswell daughters, Catherine Kaler of Hawthorne, NV and Donna Kaler Ward and husband Gregg of Ruidoso, NM daughter in law, Elizabeth Fleet of Oklahoma City,OK sister, Donna Ruth Shea of Irving, TX brothers in law, Ronald Kaler and wife Elvina of Williamsport, PA, Thomas Kaler and wife Carol of Millville, PA and Richard Kaler and wife Paula of Sycamore, IL sisters in law, Linda Kline and Richard Fry of Montoursville, PA, and Lynette Hock and husband Dale of Millville,PA. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Walter Woodrome and wife Ann, Glenn Woodrome and wife Brenda, Stephanie Josefy and husband Kevin and Andrew Fleet great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jessica and Walter Lucius Woodrome and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy graduated high school as Salutatorian in 1945 in Marshall, Oklahoma. She then attended Oklahoma City University and graduated with a BS in English and further continued her education at OU and graduated with a BS and Masters in Library Science. Dorothy was a librarian in the Roswell Independent School District for 25 years. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, Clipper Sunday School Class and sang in Chancel Choir, she was also a member of UMW at church. She was an avid reader and always had a book she was reading. Dorothy loved music and traveling with her family.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff that cared for Dorothy at Casa Maria Health Care Center.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to the Cowboy Bell Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Roswell, NM 88201.
