Dorothy Lou Copeland passed away on the evening of March 28, 2013. She was born
on November 5, 1930 in Morgan City, MS. She was the daughter of David and Luerena McMahon Meredith of Webster County, MS preceded her in death. Dorothy married James Hoyle Copeland on July 6, 1947 in Greenwood, MS preceded her in death. They had sixtytwo great years together, three children, and three wonderful grandsons, who they adored and were very proud of. She is survived by daughter Betty Jane of Roswell, NM Luther Pareo, son James David of Nogales, AZ Linda and Thersea Ann Copeland of Spotsylvania, VA, and their grandsons, Seth David, Ian James, and Matthew Edward Copeland of Nogales, AZ.
Dorothy was a military wife who traveled the world and enjoyed every minute of the time abroad and the different places they lived in the United States. After James retired from the military she started a career in retail, did very well and worked her way up into management. Then they retired again and moved home to Tupelo, MS. They lived in Tupelo until 2000, when they moved again to Roswell, NM and lived next door to their daughter Betty. They loved living in the southwest and often visited with their sons family in AZ.
Dorothy was an avid collector of many items she particularly loved to pick up odd colored rocks and cactus during her travels. She prized her collection of brightly painted frogs and treasured her collection of southwest pottery.
You could not say goodbye to us, you could not clasp our hand but God has taken one we loved off to his heavenly land. You have left this world of sorrow, and are free from pain, and now rest in peace and comfort, in the blessed Saviors arms. Unknown
The family would like to give Ballard Funeral Home Crematory a big thank you for their loving and compassionate care of our mother.
